Two-minute impact
During a Dec. 5 ribbon-cutting ceremony to designate the Richardson office as the operating hub, Andrukonis said the company is expanding its insurance offerings to include commercial insurance, such as options for small businesses.
Andrukonis said that as a result, Geico will add 500 jobs to Richardson. He said the company is already hiring to fill the positions.
A spokesperson said the expansion will allow the company to offer services to new customers and open new career opportunities for employees.
What else?
The company chose Richardson based on the workforce and a business-friendly environment.
“It’s not surprising that it didn’t take us long for Richardson and North Texas overall to rise to the top of that list and truly check all those boxes,” Andrukonis said. “Our investment here is a down payment on the future success of our commercial business and the future of Richardson and North Texas overall.”
Quote of note
Richardson Mayor Bob Dubey attended the ribbon-cutting, speaking of the resources in Richardson that can benefit Geico, such as the UT Dallas campus and the Innovation Quarter.
“Choosing Richardson, I don’t think was an accidental,” Dubey said.
