Here are 10 transportation projects that are upcoming or underway in Prosper and Celina, according to the town and city's capital improvement websites. This list is not comprehensive.
Upcoming
1. FM 1385 widening
Project: The FM 1385 reconstruction project includes widening about 12 miles of the roadway from US 380 to FM 455. The existing roadway is a two-lane rural highway that will be expanded to a six-lane roadway.
Update: The project is in the design phase with right of way acquisitions underway.
2. Teel Parkway construction
Project: Teel Parkway will be updated with new pavement into a four-lane concrete roadway from First Street to Freeman Way.
Update: The project is in the design phase with the project expected to start next winter.
3. First Street widening
Project: First Street will be widened from a two-lane rural roadway to a four-lane divided suburban roadway from Dallas North Tollway to Coleman Street.
Update: The project is in preconstruction, and notice to proceed was issued May 18.
4. Prosper Trail construction
Project: Prosper Trail will be fully reconstructed of pavement and will include a bridge replacement from Coit Road to Custer Road. The new pavement section will be a four-lane concrete divided roadway.
Update: The project is in the design phase with about 87% of that work completed.
5. Frontier Parkway updates
Project: Frontier Parkway will be reconstructed to a four-lane concrete roadway from Preston Road to Custer Road. The project will include sidewalks and underground drainage as well.
Update: The project is in the design phase with 60% of the plans sent to the Texas Department of Transportation, which will oversee construction. TxDOT is waiting on funding to start construction, according to Celina's capital improvement site.
6. Marilee Road updates
Project: Marilee Road will be updated from Preston Road to North Dallas Parkway. The project will be shared with city of Gunter, Grayson County, Collin County, city of Celina and the adjacent subdivision developers.
Update: The project is on track and the design phase is completed. Officials are waiting on funding to determine a timeline for bidding.
Ongoing
7. Coit Road phase 1 widening
Project: Coit Road will be widened from a four-lane roadway to a six-lane concrete roadway. The project spans First Street to Prosper Trail. The project includes the roadway, curbs, underground work and drainage.
Update: The project is under construction and nearing completion.
8. CR 52 reconstruction
Project: CR 52 is being reconstructed from West outer Loop to FM 428. The project includes underground drainage.
Update: The project is under construction.
9. Sunset Boulevard asphalt improvements
Project: Sunset Boulevard is being repaved, and a sanitary sewer is being installed from Preston Road to Coit Road. The project has seen some delays.
Update: The contractor for the project is wrapping up work with repairing irrigation, according to Celina’s capital improvement site.
10. Choate Parkway reconstruction
Project: Choate Parkway is being reconstructed from the existing two-lane roadway to a six-lane divided roadway from Coit Road to Roseland Parkway. The project will be shared with the city and the adjacent subdivision developer.
Update: The project is divided into two phases. The first phase, which is about half a mile from Coit Road, is under construction. The second phase is delayed due to utility relocation and is expected to start construction this summer, according to Celina’s capital improvement site.
