Upcoming projects
Project: Dallas Area Rapid Transit agency received a $70 million grant from the Federal Transit Administration, according to a news release from the agency. DART said it will use the $70 million grant to replace 53 light rail vehicles that were originally purchased over 30 years ago.
Update: DART has already begun the procurement process to purchase the new vehicles, but the agency has not announced a timeline for delivery.

Ongoing projects
Project: The city of Plano is replacing existing railroad crossings at Los Rios Boulevard and Plano Parkway. The project will also add sidewalk for some of the city’s gaps in the current sidewalk system.
Update: Construction on the project started in September.
Timeline: September 2026-27
Cost: $179,219
Funding: city of Plano
Project: The Greengate neighborhood area and adjacent roadways in Allen, including parts of Allen Heights Drive, will see upgrades to pedestrian facilities. Repairs include addressing broken sidewalk ramps, alley approaches and sidewalk panels.
Update: Contractors are currently working along Edelweiss Drive, Carnation Drive, Petunia Drive and Alder Drive, according to city officials. The next phase will include work on the interior neighborhood streets, with Flameleaf Drive, Haven Place and Bluebonnet Drive scheduled to follow.
Timeline: Construction to wrap up December 2026-early 2027
Cost: $2.16 million
Funding source: city of Allen
Project: Construction of various off-site improvements at the future Venu Sunset Amphitheater in McKinney is intended to increase intersection capacity at multiple locations surrounding the planned event venue.
Update: The construction contract has been awarded and work is expected to begin in September 2026.
Timeline: September 2026-May 2027
Cost: $13.4 million
Funding sources: North Central Texas Council of Governments, city of McKinney
Project: There will be dual left-turn lanes, dedicated right-turn lanes, new traffic signals, Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant ramps and pavement markings added at the intersection. The project is located in Council District 4 in Fort Worth.
Update: The project started on Aug. 24 and construction is scheduled weekly from Monday to Friday, according to a social media post shared by Council Member Charlie Lauersdorf.
Timeline: Aug. 24, 2026 to October 2027
Cost: $4.5 million
