Update at 7 a.m. Tuesday:

Plano ISD schools will remain open Tuesday as road conditions were better than had been feared in some parts of North Texas. Still, the roads could be slick as drivers navigate their early-morning commutes.

The chance of freezing rain and snowfall Monday evening could impact Plano ISD schools and Plano residents’ commutes Tuesday.

Plano ISD spokesperson Lesley Range-Stanton said residents can check for updates on potential opening delays or school cancellations on the district website's homepage, as well as its Facebook and Twitter pages.

The district will attempt to inform residents before 10 p.m. Monday of school closures. If the decision is unclear by 10 p.m., residents should check the district’s website or social media pages for a decision by 6 a.m. Tuesday, Range-Stanton said.

A city spokesperson said Plano’s libraries and parks typically remain open during inclement weather, and that the city will deploy salt trucks in the event that ice collects on major roadways.
