The North Texas Municipal Water District announced Nov. 11 that a break in a wastewater transmission pipeline caused an overflow of about 797,000 gallons of water into nearby Spring Creek in Plano on Nov. 10.

The wastewater pipeline broke at about 2:15 p.m., according to the district, but drinking water was not affected, said Denise Hickey, NTMWD water conservation manager. Water district officials are onsite investigating and cleaning up the area near 600 block of Executive Drive.

“This event does not affect the drinking water system. Your drinking water remains safe for use,” Hickey said.

Texas state law requires the district to send a public notice if the overflow exceeds 100,000 gallons of water.
