After a Plano City Council vote earlier this month to place a recall election for Tom Harrison on the Nov. 6 ballot, the council member will have a chance to speak to the public in the form of a special hearing.

Harrison’s hearing—as allowed for in the Plano City Charter—will be held in conjunction with the April 23 council meeting, according to Director of Media Communications Steve Stoler.

Stoler said the format for Harrison's portion of the special hearing is up to him, and it could include him calling for speakers. After the hearing, the public will have a chance to speak, followed by council members.

A group of Plano residents who circulated a now-validated resident petition are seeking Harrison’s removal because of anti-Islam content he posted on his Facebook page.

The Plano City Council regular meeting will start at 6 p.m.—an hour earlier than normal—and will include a few agenda items followed by the special hearing, Stoler said. As of Tuesday afternoon, the agenda had not yet been posted to the city’s website.

The meeting will take place in the council chambers at the Plano Municipal Center, 1520 K Ave.
