Campisi Restaurants announced March 1 it is moving its Plano restaurant from 3115 W. Parker Road to 4709 W. Parker Road, Ste. 400. The Plano location opened in October 1994 and was the third Campisi's restaurant to open.
The family-owned and operated business, which is also celebrating 70 years in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, is expected to reopen its Plano restaurant the first week in April.
“We are relocating the current location on Parker and Independence to a larger space complete with a full bar, just down the road at Parker and Preston,” owner David Campisi said. “We wanted to create a larger, modern version of our vintage family-style dining atmosphere with all the amenities our friends, neighbors and guests expect from a Campisi's Restaurant.”
The Campisi story began in 1946, when Italian immigrant and grocer Carlo “Papa” Campisi purchased a bar in Dallas called the Idle Hour. A cousin visiting from New York suggested that the restaurant serve “pizza pie,” a newly popular family meal in New York. Carlo gathered the family in the kitchen to create Dallas’ first pizza and Texas’ first pizzeria. In 1950 the family purchased the iconic Mockingbird Lane location to take over the previous Egyptian Lounge. Under fourth generation son, David, the family restaurant count has since grown to ten.
