St. Andrew’s Methodist Church will host a free panel discussion on mental health May 10, according to a news release from the church.

The event will be held from 6:30-8 p.m. at the church, located at 5801 W. Plano Parkway.

The panel is being held as St. Andrew’s expands the services offered by its mental health ministry, Beacon of Light, which officially launched in 2021. Along with its first special event, Beacon of Light will also be launching a podcast and newsletter during May, which is Mental Health Awareness Month.

Beacon of Light is also developing a training program for churches to become more informed on mental health so they may deliver effective mental health programming, according to the release.

The panel will feature Dr. Elizabeth Zak as a guest speaker along with several other panelists hosting a discussion that will focus on struggles with transition and their impact on mental health.
