Interested teachers will have a chance to meet with Plano ISD officials at an upcoming job fair, according to a news release from the district.

Plano ISD is hosting a job fair for teachers, long-term substitutes, special education and campus support staff July 28, according to a news release from the district.

The fair is set for 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Plano ISD Sockwell Center, 6301 Chapel Hill Blvd.

As of January, PISD had 173 teaching vacancies, many of which were filled by long-term substitutes.


The background

The district announced its compensation plan for the 2023-24 school year May 16.

The plan includes a 3% raise for all district employees along with the following changes:
  • Increasing starting salary for teachers with a bachelor’s degree and no experience from $58,250 to $60,000
  • Increasing starting salary for teachers with a master’s degree and no experience from $60,250 to $62,000
  • Increasing district contributions for employee health insurance from $315 to $330 per month
  • Increasing starting pay for campus support staff to $15 per hour
  • Increasing stipends for special education teachers, bilingual teachers, school nurses and behavioral instructional specialists by $2,000-$5,000
