Winter weather continues to impact North Texas as the city of Plano closes its facilities and Plano ISD extends school closures.

PISD extended school closures and facilities through Jan. 10, according to updates on the district’s website. Athletics competitions will be rescheduled and new times and dates will be sent to parents.

The district plans to resume classes Jan. 13.

All Plano recreation facilities and libraries closed Jan. 9 and all docket cases for the municipal court will be rescheduled, according to an email from Plano's Director of Media Relations Steve Stoler.

Stoler said the city has 10 sanding trucks in operation in the city that have sanded more than 100 locations, including bridges, intersections and facilities.

As of 2 p.m., there have been 12 traffic accidents since 6 a.m., according to an update from Stoler.

Residential trash and bulky item collections have proceeded as normal; however, recycling pick up will be rescheduled to Jan. 11 because of a weather-related closure at the recycling center. Residents are asked to leave their carts at collection points until pick up services have been completed.
