The city of Plano had an 11.92% increase in sales tax revenue in December 2024 compared to the same period in 2023, according to data from the Texas Comptroller of Public Affairs website.

Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar paid Plano nearly $10 million in sales tax revenue in December 2023, according to the website. Last year, the city was paid $8.8 million in December 2023.

Additionally, the city’s 2024 year-to-date sales tax revenue totaled $121 million, up 6.31% from $113 million paid in from the same period in 2023.

Sales tax revenue was also up for Texas, according to a Jan. 2 news release from Hegar’s office. The state collected $4.1 billion in sales tax revenue in December 2024, up 1% from the amount collected in December 2023.

Sales tax is the largest source of funding for the state budget and makes up approximately 58% of all taxes collected in the state. Sales tax revenue for December is based on sales made in November.
