The second phase of replacements at nine elementary school campuses will include installing a new artificial turf surface, ADA-accessible play equipment and sunshade canopies, per the district’s bond update website.
Two-minute impact
PISD playground replacements include both playgrounds on an elementary school’s campus, which are designed for lower- and upper-grade units, respectively, the spokesperson said. For the second phase, the estimated cost is $4.8 million, which is funded through the district’s $1.34 million bond approved in 2022.
“This project is part of Plano ISD’s commitment to provide a safe and welcoming environment for all students,” Lesley Range-Stanton, PISD’s chief communications officer, said in an email. “These new playgrounds will allow students of all abilities to enjoy a safe, shaded and accessible playground experience.”
Playground replacements included in the first phase are mostly complete, with the final two projects at Beverly and Boggess elementary schools starting in September, a spokesperson said.

According to PISD’s bond website, the playground replacements are expected to take place at nine elementary schools, including:
- Barron Elementary School
