The Grapevine Parks and Recreation Department will host a grand opening and dedication ceremony April 21 for the city's newest multipurpose trail, Links Trail. The ceremony will be held at 11:30 a.m. at the trail head, which is located on SH 26 and Fairway Drive. “This trail was the key linkage to the missing connector between two distinct and popular areas, historic downtown Grapevine and the Grapevine Mills mall,” Director of Parks and Recreation Kevin Mitchell said in a news release. “The trail runs along Highway 26 from Ruth Wall Road to the Hilton DFW Lakes Executive Conference Center." The new trail has a linear length of 9,449 feet, or 1.79 miles, bringing the city of Grapevine’s total trail mileage to 40.20 miles. The trail is constructed of concrete, which is normally referenced as a hard surface trail, versus a soft surface trail, which is typically made of dirt or decomposed gravel. Runners, walkers, strollers, dog walkers and bicycle riders can all use the trail.
