1. McKinney National Airport sees $5.4M investment for planning, design

The McKinney Community Development Corp. and McKinney Economic Development Corp. have committed a total of $5.4 million to improvements at McKinney National Airport. The MEDC board unanimously approved the fund allotment at an April 16 meeting, and the MCDC board unanimously approved an additional fund allotment at a May 23 meeting.

2. McKinney leaders to pursue sponsorship extension for Byron Nelson golf tournament

McKinney City Council members are looking to extend the city’s sponsorship agreement for the CJ Cup Byron Nelson golf tournament by eight years, according to a May 7 work session meeting. The sponsorship agreement with the city ends following the fifth year of the tournament in May 2025.


3. Downtown McKinney’s Hall library to see construction, new design

The Roy and Helen Hall Memorial Library is expected to undergo construction as part of a “reimagination” of the facility, according to city of McKinney documents. McKinney City Council members unanimously approved a budget amendment and accompanying resolution totaling about $1.2 million for the design and construction of the project as part of the consent agenda at a June 4 meeting.

4. McKinney officials establish local housing voucher program

A new program from the city of McKinney could help residents at risk of losing their housing. McKinney City Council members unanimously approved a local gap housing voucher program as part of the consent agenda at a May 21 meeting.


5. McKinney leaders extend negotiation period with M2G Ventures for downtown redevelopment project

The plan for McKinney's downtown redevelopment project will come later than expected following a change to the negotiation agreement with M2G Ventures, the private partner for the project. The term sheet negotiation period for the downtown redevelopment project has been extended to Dec. 31, according to city documents.
