Three McKinney ISD board of trustee candidates won their races with all voting centers reporting during the May 6 election.

The incumbents, Amy Dankel, Lynn Sperry and Stephanie O'Dell, lead election results in the race for McKinney ISD’s three board of trustee seats.

As of 10:45 p.m., Dankel won over Brittany Hendrickson with 55.74%, or 2,472 votes, for Place 4. Sperry won over Rachel Elliott with 59.55%, or 1,631 votes, for Place 5. O'Dell won over James Westerheid and Serena Ashcroft with 55.95%, or 9,494 votes, for Place 6.

Sperry said she is glad that the three incumbents won their respective races, and she looks forward to working with them for this new term.


"It is absolutely fabulous because this has been hanging over our heads for three months now," Sperry said. "I am thrilled to death.”

Dankel and O'Dell did not respond to requests for comment on election night.

Dankel said in a Q&A with Community Impact that she wants to serve on the board because she knows "the importance of having a great school system."

O'Dell said she wants to thank everyone who came out to vote and showing that "the truth matters."


"The people of our community have spoken and they love our schools, our teachers,” O'Dell said. "We want to continue to do great things at McKinney ISD, and we will continue to do great things."

In Collin County, 11.86% of its 689,552 registered voters cast a ballot with seven voting centers reporting, according to the county's election department.

Three McKinney ISD board of trustee candidates maintain their lead with 35 out of 62 voting centers reporting during the May 6 election.

The incumbents, Amy Dankel, Lynn Sperry and Stephanie O'Dell, lead election results in the race for McKinney ISD’s three board of trustee seats.

As of 9:30 p.m., Dankel leads over Brittany Hendrickson with 56.91%, or 2,174 votes, for Place 4. Sperry leads over Rachel Elliott with 61%, or 1,456 votes, for Place 5. O'Dell leads over James Westerheid and Serena Ashcroft with 56.92%, or 8,702 votes, for Place 6.

Dankel, Sperry and O’Dell are incumbents.

The incumbents, Amy Dankel, Lynn Sperry and Stephanie O'Dell, lead election results in the race for McKinney ISD’s three board of trustee seats.

As of 8:45 p.m., Dankel leads over Brittany Hendrickson with 58.41%, or 1,923 votes, for Place 4. Sperry leads over Rachel Elliott with 61.82%, or 1,381 votes, for Place 5. O'Dell leads over James Westerheid and Serena Ashcroft with 58.38%, or 7,825 votes, for Place 6.

Dankel, Sperry and O’Dell are incumbents.
