McKinney City Council members approved a specific use permit for the major vehicle repair facility during a Dec. 2 meeting. Staff recommended approval of the permit request since the subject property is located near other industrial uses such as outdoor storage and warehouse uses, according to a city document.
Owen Bartlett, development manager for 6S Development, spoke on behalf of the applicant during the meeting. The new site will be one of Classic Collision’s first locations in the Dallas- Fort Worth region and officials are “very excited to invest in this community,” he said.
“We’re excited to present a state-of-the-art collision repair center planned on the corner of Wilmeth [Road] and Redbud [Boulevard],” Bartlett said. “Classic Collision is one of the five major collision center operators in the United States.”
The proposed building will measure about 17,000 square feet and all vehicle repair work will occur within the enclosed structure, he said. Parking will include 15 public stalls and 70 stalls for Classic Collision with 28 of those stalls located within the building, Bartlett said.
“We look forward to partnering with the city of McKinney to build the project, bring jobs and provide a needed service—auto repair—that will serve the community for decades to come,” he said.
Classic Collision offers collision repair, glass repair and electronic calibration services for vehicles, according to its website. The company operates 300 stores across the country including a location in south Denton that opened in December.
