1. Venetian village on the tollway advances to Prosper council
The Marco, a 143-acre proposed mixed-use development designed to mimic the feel of an Italian village is moving forward in Prosper. Conceptual plans for the development include a public square, retail spaces, single-family and multifamily housing, a performing arts venue and a hotel, all centered around a lagoon with canals big enough to navigate by boat.

2. Fourth Plano EOS Fitness to be constructed at former Kroger store
EOS Fitness is planning to open its fourth Plano location near SH 121 and Coit Road. EOS Fitness has month-to-month memberships and is known for its cardio theater, where members can watch movies while working out. Other amenities at the gym include its camera-friendly space for content creators, indoor green turf, indoor pool, hot tub and saunas.

3. Frisco council tables Trader Joe’s project
A Trader Joe’s-anchored project has been postponed again. The Frisco City Council unanimously tabled a zoning change at an Aug. 18 meeting for a nearly 10-acre mixed-use development that could be anchored by a Trader Joe’s grocery store. Council members said they wanted to discuss the project further before making a decision.

4. Affidavit filed for recall of 4 McKinney City Council members
A recall affidavit has been filed with the city of McKinney and official petition papers have been issued for circulation, city officials confirmed. The campaign, called McKinney Recall, is collecting signatures to recall, or remove from office, the following public officials: Mayor Bill Cox and McKinney City Council members Justin Beller, Geré Feltus and Ernest Lynch.

5. Frisco City Council approves retail development near Bacchus Park
Frisco leaders have approved a retail development near Bacchus Park. Spiars Engineering plans to construct three retail buildings in the 6.9-acre development with an open pavilion and open seating in the middle of the buildings.

6. Denton ISD earns 'C' accountability rating from TEA for 2025-26
Denton ISD received an overall "C" rating from the Texas Education Agency’s 2025-26 accountability ratings. The district’s overall score was 76 out of 100. The TEA released the ratings Aug. 14. The TEA accountability ratings evaluate districts on what students learn, how prepared they are for the next grade, and how a district prepares students for college, a career or military service, per the agency’s website.
