The plans for the facility, located at 3801 S. Lake Forest Drive near McKinney Ranch Parkway, include a single building on about 1.4 acres, according to a presentation by city staff.
The 15,000-square-foot facility will include 12,000 square feet of retail space, and the rest of the space will be used for storage, according to city documents.
The McKinney Planning and Zoning Commission approved a requested zoning variance for the project in a 5-0 vote at a June 13 meeting, with Commission Chair Bill Cox and Commission Member Bry Taylor abstaining. The variances approved included alternative screening and loading bay placements, according to city documents.
Dallas-based Goody Goody Liquor opened its first store in Dallas in 1964 and now operates over 20 liquor stores across Texas, according to its website. The store offers a variety of beers, wines, liquors, drink mixers and more.
Goody Goody Liquors is among more than 10 liquor stores coming to the McKinney area following the approval of packaged liquor sales in the November 2022 election. Other liquor store locations underway in McKinney include Spec’s Wines, Spirits & Finer Foods as well as Firewater Liquor.
