Spec's Liquor and Fossil Creek Liquor are among the 15 businesses that have applied for permits to sell packaged liquor in McKinney.

McKinney voters approved a ballot proposition in the November election to allow for the sale of packaged liquor products in city limits. Over 74% of voters elected to approve the proposition that was promoted by the McKinney Chamber of Commerce.

Fifteen businesses have since been issued a permit or are in the process of obtaining a permit to sell packaged liquor products, according to city staff. Businesses must obtain approvals from both the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission and the city of McKinney before a permit can be issued, according to city staff.
