McKinney libraries, parks and other venues and organizations across the city hosted Halloween events featuring trick-or-treating, costume contests and more.

The gist

The McKinney Parks and Recreation Department hosted the Trick or Treat Trail at Towne Lake Park on Oct. 21. The event included trick-or-treating around the 1.2-mile trail, as well as costume contests in various categories and live music.

The Pumpkin Dunk event Oct. 22 at the Apex Centre offered a chance for attendees to go swimming for pumpkins, and then decorate them at provided decoration stations.

Other McKinney-area Halloween events included:
  • The Trick or Treat March at the Senior Recreation Center
  • The Halloween Haunt at Roy and Helen Hall Memorial Library
  • The Spooktacular Boos and Brews Walk in Downtown McKinney
  • The Monster Dash 5K at Tupps Brewery
  • McKinney Philharmonic Orchestra’s annual Halloween Family Concert
Looking ahead


Events throughout McKinney are planned for the coming months, including the annual Downtown McKinney Home for the Holidays event.

The event, scheduled for Nov. 24-26, will include a tree lighting ceremony, visits with Santa and more family-friendly activities, according to a news release from the city.
