Denton County Public Health announced May 12 that an additional 22 cases of coronavirus have been confirmed locally, bringing the county’s total to 968 cases.

So far, 523 residents who were diagnosed with the virus have since recovered, 420 cases remain active and 25 residents have died due to the disease, according to officials.

Forty-two Flower Mound residents, 12 Highland Village residents and 125 Lewisville residents have tested positive for the virus.

As local cases of coronavirus continue to be confirmed, Denton County Commissioners Court voted unanimously May 12 to extend its executive order for a disaster declaration through June 2. The declaration is in alignment with Gov. Greg Abbott’s latest guidance.
