Commercial jet manufacturer Embraer broke ground for a Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul, or MRO, facility at Perot Field Fort Worth Alliance Airport Oct. 20.

The MRO will be the second hangar at the airport.

The gist

The new hangar will be constructed to support a growing aviation hub in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, speakers at the event said.

Carlos Naufel, CEO and president of Embraer service and support, said this facility will serve companies like CommuteAir with United Express, American Airlines and other aviation companies.

The background

Fort Worth City Council approved incentives for Embraer’s new service center in 2024. The first MRO facility for Embraer opened in June.

The $70 million facility investments are expected to bring about 250 new aviation industry jobs to the region and increase the company’s U.S. service capacity by 53%, according to Embraer.
