The expansion of Hwy. 114 by the Texas Department of Transportation will result in a traffic switch from Jan. 29-30. The expansion project runs from I-35W to US 377 between Roanoke and Fort Worth.

The details

Eastbound traffic on Hwy. 114 will be detoured to the new roadway at Chadwick Parkway. The right eastbound lane will continue on old Hwy. 114 to access Dale Earnhardt Boulevard and Cleveland Gibbs Road.

Traffic will detour back to the old Hwy. 114 roadway just before Litsey Road.

The background

The project will see a new six-lane freeway constructed and the reconstruction of the eastbound frontage road. The purpose of the project is to improve mobility and bring the roadway up to current design standards, according to TxDOT.

Updates are needed to support future travel demands stemming from projected population growth and traffic volumes.

The project costs about $99 million, TxDOT public information officer Tila Grant said in an email.

Construction started in August 2023 and could be complete by spring 2026.
