The details
The payment comes on the heels of Keller ISD board members passing a resolution May 20 regarding the vital role teachers and staff play in Texas. In the resolution, the board committed to rewarding full-time staff with additional compensation.
What they’re saying
Place 5 Trustee Chris Coker said while he was a bit hesitant at first to offer the one-time payment because of budgetary challenges, he was pleased staff was able to identify additional monies to give back to staff.
“We made a pledge that if we could find a way to do it, then we would,” Coker said. “I wish it could be more, but I’m pleased we could get something to them.”
Place 1 Trustee Micah Young echoed Coker in saying the district is in a financial position to be able to offer the $300 payment to full-time staff without dipping into fund balance.
“It’s a well-deserved reward coming at this time of year,” Young said. “More than anything, it’s a big thank you.”
