Geramie Parrish and Rachel Weatherington are running for the position, which will be open after John Birt opted not to seek reelection.
Birt is the current KISD board of trustees president and has held the Place 4 position since May 2023. He was previously on the board from 1996-99, according to the school district website.

Why are you running for office?
KISD needs experienced leaders who can foster open dialogue and maintain trust through transparency. I am a parent of two KISD students, an experienced teacher, special education advocate and CASA for children in foster care. I’m ready to keep students at the heart of every decision.
What are the biggest challenges facing the school district?
The budget is the biggest challenge and the root of most other challenges.
How do you plan to address these issues?
It's been almost seven years since the last bond was approved and the proposed bond will fix our schools' failing HVAC systems, plumbing issues and crumbling buildings. This will allow us to free up funds to compensate staff without raising tax rates.
What would your top priorities be if you are elected?
I want to support and retain great teachers and staff, fight for increased public education funding, rebuild unity and trust in our community and keep students at the heart of every decision.

Why are you running for school board?
Having three kids in two different feeder patterns, I am running to represent all of Keller ISD. I have watched current and previous board members make decisions to divide our community, waste tax dollars and sit passively by while lawmakers destroy our schools.
What are the biggest challenges facing Keller ISD?
Keller ISD is facing a windstorm of challenges, including broken community trust, declining enrollment, a broken state funding system, aging and poorly maintained facilities and poor decision making and planning by KISD leadership.
How do you plan to address these issues?
I plan to make KISD a destination district and grow enrollment by attracting students from neighboring districts. I pledge to end the "rubber stamp" of reckless spending by the KISD Administration. I plan to fight to keep KISD tax revenue in KISD while improving teacher pay to attract top talent.
What would your top priorities be if you are elected?
I will fight to keep our tax dollars in KISD and not taken and sent elsewhere. I will prioritize smart spending while scrutinizing all invoices for services. Taxpayers deserve transparency, students deserve funds to go to their benefits and I pledge to stop financing poor decisions or planning by leadership.
