The Northwest ISD board of trustees named Edwina West-Dukes as principal of J.C. Thompson Elementary School after former principal Leigh Anne Romer passed away in July.

The details

According to a district news release, West-Dukes most recently served as the principal of Heritage Elementary School in Keller ISD. Other positions she has held include:
  • 2 years as an assistant principal in Keller ISD
  • 4 years as an assistant principal in Fort Worth ISD
  • 8 years as an elementary school teacher in Fort Worth ISD
The news release states that West-Dukes earned her bachelor’s degree from Prairie View A&M University and has a master's degree of education in educational leadership and policy studies, both from the University of Texas at Arlington.
