Michelle Dedwylder may have opened The Social Brush in April at 139 Taylor St., but she isn’t new to the Keller art scene.

“I currently own Artful Mayhem Studio right around the corner,” Dedwylder said. “[It] is our art studio for children where we offer the same things as The Social Brush but exclusively for kids. Artful Mayhem Studio has been around for over 11 years.”

At The Social Brush, adults can explore paint and sip events, private party events, birthday parties and educational art classes. In the future, Dedwylder said The Social Brush will be offering different types of craft classes.

Dedwylder decided to open an adult art studio after parents of her students at Artful Mayhem Studio kept asking her when she was going to start offering adult classes.

“I would always laugh, and then I realized they were serious,” said Dedwylder. “They wanted a cool place to hangout and do art just like their kids do. Not a month later when I found out the tenants were moving out, I said I want that building for adults. And there you have it! It is literally within walking distance of the kids studio and is in a cool old house that has tons of character.”
