More than 1,400 flights were canceled, including some Jan. 8 ahead of the storm.

According to Flightaware.com, 771 flights out of DFW Airport were canceled Jan. 9, while 744 flights into DFW Airport were canceled.

Both numbers account for more than 63% of the airport's total flights for the day.

The website also shows 127 cancelations out of DFW Airport and and 83 flights into DFW Airport for Jan. 10.

What else?

Brian Brooks, DFW's VP of communications, said the airport has multiple crews deployed to treat surfaces and remove buildup from the storm.

"The airlines have proactively reduced [Thursday's] operating schedule to assist with lessening impacts for passengers," he said. "Anyone still traveling today should use extra caution on the roads and allow extra time."

DFW Airport staff has already treated seven runways, 75 million square feet of airfield space, 1,288 miles of roads and 133 bridges, using 875 tons of sands and 169,000 gallons of liquid deicer on the morning of Jan. 9, according to a social media post.

Airport officials directed individuals to reach out to their individual airlines about refunded or rescheduled flights. American Airlines' website stated that all travelers can call the airline at 800-433-7300 to reschedule their cancelled flights or receive a refund.

The website also says, if the delay or cancellation is caused by events beyond its control like weather, the customer is responsible for overnight accommodations, meals and incidental expenses.
