Meow Wolf Grapevine will host an artist market Oct. 4 in collaboration with The Usual Artspects, a Grapevine nonprofit.

The immersive art exhibit located inside Grapevine Mills has hosted art therapy courses aimed at helping women who are victims of domestic violence and sexual assault heal through creative expression, according to a news release.

The details

Kaitlyn Armendariz, Meow Wolf Grapevine Impact Manager, said the nonprofit started using the Matt King Mystery Center community room last year.

“They have been really fun for us to host,” she said. “It's a fun location for folks, too. I think it makes it almost a little bit less intimidating. For many people, this is their first class and it's a really fun space.”

She said the plan is to do more artist markets in the future, and they are looking at a date in the winter and one next spring.

What’s happening?

The Usual Artspects had about 20 participants during classes in September and worked with a variety of different media to produce artwork. Guests who visit Meow Wolf Grapevine will see artwork from the women aided by the nonprofit and other area artists as they enter and exit the exhibit. The event is a fundraiser for the nonprofit, which was founded in 2021 and is located on Northwest Highway.

What they’re saying

“I think it's just a good way to partner with folks throughout like the Grapevine community and beyond," Armendariz said. "For us, the art markets are also a way of supporting independent artists, which is really core to us, as well. It's a great chance to support the fundraising that The Usual Artspects is doing [and is] also a platform to highlight local artists and artisans.”
