The Alzheimer’s Association of North Central Texas is hosting the Walk to End Alzheimer’s that will start at The Rec of Grapevine. Rep. Giovanni Carpigilone, R-Southlake, will speak at the opening ceremony. The honorary chair of the event will be Tarrant County Precinct 3 Commissioner Gary Fickes. Bianca Castro of NBC 5 will be hosting the ceremony.

According to a news release, 6 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s disease, and more than 11 million family members and friends provide care for those living with Alzheimer’s or dementia. In Texas, there are more than 400,000 with Alzheimers, the association stated. The walk will be a fundraiser for the organization, with a goal to raise $175,000 this year.
