Woodbriar Park in Colleyville will be getting a new playground, with plans for further additions in the future.

Parks & Recreation Director Lisa Escobedo presented a plan to spend an amount not to exceed $192,821 for new playground equipment and installation with Water & Play Expressions during the May 7 City Council meeting.

The details

The Argyle-based business will replace the current playground and install the following items:
  • Pour-in-place rubber surface
  • Shaded playground structure with spiral slides
  • Bounce spring rider
  • Mini-tree swing
This project had a budget amount of $200,000 in the Colleyville Economic Development Corporation's five-year plan, according to city documents. No timetable for the project's start or end was discussed at the meeting.

The park is heavily used and the neighborhood residents said they wanted a new playground, Escobido said. She said additional park plans include adding benches along the playground and nearby trail and possibly a pavilion in future projects.

“We talked to people and they are super excited about it,” Mayor Bobby Lindamood said.
