A permit that would allow for a fireworks show as part of the city’s Carol of Lights celebration was approved by Grapevine City Council.

Council members cast their votes of approval during the Dec. 5 meeting with the fireworks show set to take place Dec. 9.

The gist

The permit allows for a fireworks display that is expected to last about 10 minutes, according to city documents. The fireworks are set to begin at 8:30 p.m. and are part of the planned festivities for the Merry and Bright Drone Show Dec. 9.

Per city documents, the vendor, Illumination Fireworks Partners, is providing the show at no cost to the city because the initial display planned for Dec. 2 was canceled because of high winds during the Carol of Lights Nov. 20.

“We have already paid for the fireworks and they are not charging for additional labor,” Event Production Manager Erin Burke said.

What else?

A further Merry and Bright Drone Show is scheduled for 8 p.m. Dec. 16, Burke said.
