The Carroll ISD board of trustees approved closing out the district's technology bond projects in a 4-0 vote at its July 11 special board workshop.

Trustees Sheri Mills, Hannah Smith and Alex Sexton were absent from the meeting.

The 2017 bond program had funds to “refresh” CISD’s network infrastructure, according to the board’s resolution. The $208 million bond package also covered projects, such as renovations to Carroll and Old Union elementary schools; new turf for the Carroll Senior High baseball and softball fields; and a new 700-seat music center.

The total cost to close out the district’s technology bond commitments from the bond package is to not exceed $880,000, the resolution stated.

A synopsis of items that need to be updated was listed in the board’s resolution. This list includes $368,317.38 for firewall updates and support renewal over the next two years; $103,587 for email security and archiving software updates; and $84,000 for iPad device management.

Other items listed by the technology department were the renewal for network switching support, a subscription for remote internet filtering, additional data storage, refreshing three cameras, refreshing three out-of-date servers, system updates for the email system and software updates for data backup and infrastructure monitoring.
