Matt Bryant is running for the Carroll ISD board of trustees Place 4 seat.

He will run against Dudley Jordan and Eric Lannen in the election May 5.

Community Impact Newspaper sent Bryant a series of questions about his candidacy. His written responses, edited for publication style, are below.
Q: What is your current occupation?

Real estate investments. I own and manage a rental property portfolio.
Q: Why did you decide to run for this office?

The school district is one of the greatest assets to our community, and it has been a blessing to our family. Our children are receiving an amazing education, and it would be an honor to give back to the district that has given so much to our family.
Q: What experience—professionally or politically—do you have that would prepare you for this position?

My past experience as a process engineer for Texas Instruments trained me to make data-driven decisions. My experience as a real estate owner/developer has allowed me to learn to work effectively with a wide a variety of people and personalities.
Q: If elected, what would be your top priorities?

My top priority is to actively listen to the parents to understand their concerns. If the district is able to truly understand the concerns of our parents, then we will be able to address the primary issues that face our students. My desire is for our parents to feel that the district is their partner in helping our children achieve their potential.
Q: What else do you want constituents to know about you and your background?

I grew up in the Dallas area and attended Texas A&M. I married Lisa 19 years ago. We feel blessed to have moved to Southlake in 2005. Our three children (Madeline (17), Matthew (14), Robert (13)) all started kindergarten here (at the former Durham Elementary) and will graduate from our great CISD schools. I believe that strong public schools are extremely important for our community.

Over the past decade, I have volunteered and served our community through multiple channels. I was on the original leadership team for All-Pro Dad’s at Walnut Grove Elementary. I have coached multiple years with Dragon Youth Baseball, Grapevine/Southlake Soccer Association and Dragon Youth Basketball. I am currently serving as an Art Docent for Durham and Eubanks Intermediate Schools. In 2014, I was nominated to participate in CISD’s CLASS program.  In 2015, I served on the Strategic Planning Committee for the CISD. I also co-chaired a sub-committee focused on Key Teacher Retention.

I currently serve on the Young-Life Board.
