Founded 26 years ago in Lewisville and serving the Argyle community for the past 13 years, New Song School of the Arts is owned by Heather and Todd Parks. Their newest campus will be located inside Southlake Baptist Church.
According to previous Community Impact reporting, New Song offers private lessons in various instruments—including piano, voice, guitar, percussion, strings, woodwinds and brass—as well as theater in several mediums.
Todd Parks calls New Song an "elevated fine art experience" in North Texas.
What happened
Todd Parks said the original plan to expand was focused on Ponder until a chance encounter changed that. Southlake Baptist Church Pastor Clayton Reed officiated a wedding in Argyle and called the Parks about possibly bringing their services to Southlake.
The details
The Argyle location currently has more than 1,300 students with a faculty and staff of more than 100.
The Southlake spot will help make the drive shorter for those who are south of Grapevine Lake. Currently, the Argyle school has students from spots such as Gainesville, Frisco, McKinney and Fort Worth.
What else?
Parks shared that New Song recently hosted Miguel Cervantes, who played the role of Alexander Hamilton in "Hamilton" in Chicago and on Broadway, for a private music event in Argyle, where he performed some of his greatest hits from the award-winning show—something rare for a small town community.
He said the company is excited to expand and showcase “The Standard is Excellence” within the school to Southlake.
