Great Wolf Lodge is planning some work on its Grapevine resort to add a new wolf statue and outdoor adventure trail.

Grapevine City Council approved a conditional use permit to allow for the changes during its Jan. 16 joint meeting with the planning and zoning commission.

The overview

As part of the approved additions, a 15-foot vestibule will be added underneath the main entry to the hotel, according to city documents. The existing wolf statues will be replaced by a singular 14-foot wolf statue on the west side of the main entry drive, Billy Avila, an architect representing the project, said.

Avila said the reason behind the new statue location was to maintain a photo opportunity but move it away from the vehicle traffic that may be accessing the hotel’s covered entry.

In addition to the wolf statue and vestibule, the permit will allow for the construction of an over-30 foot outdoor adventure trail play structure near the existing outdoor ropes course in the rear of the property. Tree removal and replacement will also take place near the main entry sign along Northwest Highway.

What else?

No timetable was given for the project during the meeting, but the hotel also began a $17 million renovation in 2023.
