The Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center is canceling its Ice event for the 2021 holiday season for the second consecutive year.

In an announcement on its website, the hotel said it is hoping to bring back the event as soon as possible. International travel restrictions are affecting the artisans behind the event, preventing the indoor walk-thru winter wonderland from returning at this time, according to the announcement.

To replace this event, a new experience called "Mission: Save Christmas featuring Elf" will be offered. This all-new original experience takes guests on a journey to Buddy the Elf's world to save Christmas alongside characters from the movie "Elf."

The Ice event usually features four two-story ice slides and colorful ice sculptures made from two million pounds of ice.

The announcement comes along with Gaylord Texan's release of its annual holiday activities, which include photos with Santa, ice skating, a light show and more. A full list of events can be found here.
