Republican state Rep. Frederick Frazier, who represents parts of Collin County, including McKinney and Frisco, will serve a one-year probation in response to misdemeanor charges presented in Collin County’s 199th District Court on Dec. 5.

The gist

Frazier pled no contest to two misdemeanor charges that he impersonated a public servant.

The case stems from an incident regarding political campaign signs during the 2022 Republican primary runoff for the District 61 seat when the current state representative’s runoff challenger, Paul Chabot, accused Frazier of criminal offenses against his campaign.

Frazier was given deferred adjudication in response to the no-contest pleas and will serve one year of probation, according to court documents. The court determination also assigned Frazier a $4,000 fine for each charge.

“I am very happy to have this 2-year-old issue behind me,” Frazier said of the case resolution in a statement. “At the end of the process, my record will remain clear. I remain committed to serving the people of Collin County.”

Also of note

Frazier was elected to the District 61 seat in the November 2022 general election after garnering over 58% of votes cast, defeating opponent Sheena King. Frazier’s term expires in 2025.

Prior to serving as a state representative, Frazier served in an at-large position on McKinney City Council from 2019 to 2022.
