Former McKinney City Council member and Republican candidate Frederick Frazier has secured the Texas State Representative District 61 seat in the Nov. 8 general election.

Frazier collected more votes than Democratic candidate Sheena King. According to unofficial results, Frazier has 39,999 votes, or 58.28%, while King collected 28,628 votes, or 41.72%, with all 105 vote centers reporting.

Texas House members are elected to two-year terms, and District 61 covers portions of Collin County that include McKinney and Frisco.
