Frisco ISD has named its Deputy Superintendent Todd Fouche as the lone finalist for superintendent.
The district's board of trustees named Fouche as the finalist during a March 12 board meeting. Fouche would replace Superintendent Mike Waldrip who has served as superintendent of FISD since 2017 and announced his retirement in November.
The finalist announcement comes after district leaders worked with the search firm Impact Education Specialists to guide the district through its executive search process.
“Throughout the selection process, Dr. Fouche demonstrated a deep understanding of Frisco ISD and the values that guide our work each day,” FISD school board President Dynette Davis said in a March 13 news release. “It became clear that his commitment to our students, staff and community aligns with the board’s vision for the future of our district. Dr. Fouche’s experience, thoughtful leadership and and dedication to public education position him well to lead Frisco ISD into its next chapter.”
About the candidate
Fouche has served in several roles during his 10 years with FISD, the release states. This includes teaching fifth and eighth grade science, serving as assistant principal at Roach Middle School and later principal at Pioneer Heritage Middle School. Fouche served as the district's director of finance before becoming deputy superintendent.
Fouche earned his Bachelor of Science at Texas A&M University. He later earned his master's of education and educational doctorate from the University of North Texas, the release states.
Fouche and his family have been embedded within the district for years, the release states. Fouche's mother retired as a teacher at Staley Middle School in 2004 while his daughters attended FISD in K-12 grades.
“It’s an incredible honor to be named the lone finalist for superintendent of Frisco ISD,” Fouche said in the release. “This district has meant so much to my family and to my career. I’m grateful for the trust of the board of trustees, and I look forward to continuing our work together to serve the students, staff and families of this community.”
Looking ahead
Under state law, Fouche cannot be approved by the board of trustees for the position until a 21-day waiting period ends. The school board is expected to approve the final selection in April, the release states.
