The National Football League announced today that the 2018 NFL Draft will be hosted in Arlington at AT&T Stadium.

Dallas Cowboys executives had pitched hosting draft activities at both the stadium where the team plays in Arlington and the team's headquarters at The Star in Frisco, but Cowboys spokesperson Joe Trahan confirmed that draft activities will only take place in Arlington.

An NFL representative was not immediately available for comment.

Hosting the three-day event at AT&T Stadium marks the first time in history that the NFL Draft will be hosted at a football stadium, as well as the first draft hosted in Texas. Philadelphia hosted the draft earlier this year.

“Philadelphia raised the bar by taking the draft to another level, and this new opportunity in Dallas will enable us to continue the event’s evolution and grow it even further,” NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said during the NFL's annual fall meeting Wednesday. “We are grateful to the Dallas Cowboys, the cities of Arlington, Dallas and Frisco and the Dallas Sports Commission for their leadership in turning this vision into reality.”

Round 1 of the draft begins Thursday, April 26, 2018. Rounds 2 and 3 will be Friday, April 27, and Rounds 4-7 will close out the draft Saturday, April 28.
