A vote of 5 to 2 has officially put Highland Village's massive citywide update in motion.

Council approved the final read of the "Our Village, Our Vision" plan at the Feb. 28 meeting, setting into motion a plan that will update several aspects of the city—including parks and trails.

The plan includes updates to:
  • The old city comprehensive plan, adopted originally in 1995;
  • The parks, recreation and open space master plan, adopted originally in 2008;
  • The trail system master plan update, adopted originally in 2011; and
  • The FM 407 trail corridor plan.
The FM 407 plan is an extensive update, city officials said. Per documents, the intent is to expand the trail system to include the FM 407 corridor with multimodel use for pedestrians, bicycles and golf carts—while also connecting commercial and residential areas.
