Frisco ISD board of trustees is expected to name a lone finalist for superintendent during a special meeting on Monday.

The meeting is expected to begin at 3 p.m. with the board going into closed session soon after. The board is expected to make the announcement after closed session.

Trustees spent this week interviewing candidates for the position of superintendent, which is currently held by Jeremy Lyon. Lyon, who has been with the district since 2013, announced his retirement in March after 31 years in public education. He will officially retire at the end of the school year.

Lyon has been named the first president of Cooper Youth, a division of The Cooper Institute, a nonprofit research and education organization in the field of preventive medicine.

Soon after Lyon's retirement announcement, the school board began the process to search for a new superintendent by holding board workshops to determine the qualities wanted in a superintendent. In early April the board hired Jenny Preston Educational Consulting to help in the search process.

District staff and the board also held community forums earlier this month to receive input from community members regarding desired qualities for the next superintendent.
