Collin County residents can apply for the Collin College Board of Trustees Place 7 position until 5 p.m. Aug. 14.

A search committee will review the applications and bring a recommendation to the Board at the September meeting. The Board will then vote on the committee's recommendation.

Place 7 became available after founding board member Tino Trujillo resigned from the position June 24. In his resignation letter, Trujillo said he wanted more time to "focus on family and other interests."

Trujillo had served on the board since its creation in 1985, Collin College spokeswoman Lisa Vasquez said.

The trustee appointed to Place 7 will serve the remainder of the term, which ends in May 2015. The position will then be up for election for a six-year term.

To be eligible for the position, candidates must be 18 years old or older, a U.S. citizen, a Texas resident for at least a year before appointment and a Collin County resident for at least six months before appointment.

Interested candidates must submit a completed application and rsum. Application forms and more information can be found at https://www.collin.edu/leadership/board_of_trustees.html
