The five-story building, located at the southeast corner of Dallas Parkway and Main Street, will have approximately 150,000 square feet of space with an enclosed skywalk connecting to the main hospital. The facility will include 11 operating rooms, including one biplane cath lab, 53 patient rooms and office space. The $37 million expansion project is expected to be complete by spring 2020.
“We are proud to continue to invest in the Frisco community,” Charles Gressle, CEO of Medical City Frisco, said at the Feb. 27 groundbreaking ceremony. “It is in our culture to be innovative and anticipate future demand for leading edge treatment designed to help keep our community healthy and advance our mission to the care and improvement of human life.”
Last year, the hospital expanded its women's services unit, which includes 13 delivery and recovery rooms, and features a six-bed, Level II neonatal intensive care unit with three dedicated cesarean section operating rooms and a 10-bed nursery.
Medical City Healthcare also plans to open Medical City Heart Hospital and Medical City Spine Hospital this fall in Dallas near Medical City Dallas across US 75 and Forest Lane.
These new expansions are part of Medical City Healthcare's major capital investment initiative of more than $1.7 billion spent or committed over five years, according to a Medical City Healthcare news release.
