Washington D.C.-based high-end cosmetics retailer, Bluemercury Inc. announced it will open its first Plano location in The Shops at Legacy this August. The 3,500 square foot store will offer skincare products, perfumes and makeup, as well as hair, bath and body products. Bluemercury Founder and COO Barry Beck said the the Bishop Road location was an attractive spot to set up the company's latest store due, in part, to the neighborhood feel of The Shops at Legacy. “Our stores benefit from a clustered approach,” he said. “I have probably been to Plano no less than 10 times to look at The Shops at Legacy. Our stores are located where our clients work.” Bluemercury will be located next to Benefit Cosmetics and across from Kendra Scott, joining other retailers, such as Lululemon Athletica, Francesca’s and Urban Outfitters. Jason Kasal, vice president of the Shops at Legacy's property management company, Retail Properties of America, said the area supports a number of high-performing retail stores and is on the radar for national luxury brands. “When you get a big group of great retailers like we have, they start playing off of each other,” said Kasal, who also serves as RPAI's senior leasing director for its western division. Kasal said adding Bluemercury to the brands featured at The Shops at Legacy is like “adding a cosmetics counter to the Bishop Road.” Kasal said retail space on Bishop Road is 100 percent leased and that RPAI's focus now on the Shops at Legacy is to strike a balance between its restaurants and shopping brands. “For that reason it takes more time in moving brands around and getting them the right spot,” he said. “We are not dealing with a lot of vacancy.”
