The taco shop will move into 8981 Fifth Street, which is the former location of 5th Oak Pizza. The pizza restaurant has closed. "We were forced to close our previous location after our rent almost doubled the amount, and we're just not able to pay the new amount," co-owner Sofia Santoyo said. "While this new location is smaller, we are hopeful that it will help us get by to either expand or find bigger space later on." Santoyo has owned the restaurant with her brother Miguel since 2009. In January, the siblings decided to expand the restaurant to add more seating for customers. Along with the renovations, new menu items were added as well as a larger salsa bar. "We still want to be in the Frisco community because it has been so good to us," Santoyo said. "So we're very happy we were able to find another location in Frisco quickly." Santoyo said there are plans to have a food truck so Marianas Taco Shop can serve food during Frisco events. The restaurant has served Mexican traditional dishes such as burritos, tacos, tortas, menudo and enchiladas. For more information about Marianas, go to www.marianastacoshopfrisco.com.
