After the results were canvassed, council member Gary Moore was sworn into office to serve a second term on council. Newcomer to council J. David Little was also sworn into office. Moore serves on position No. 3 and faced a competitive re-election campaign. Contestant J. Darnell Jones secured 44.66 percent of the vote, according to the Brazoria County Clerk's Office. Moore took home the majority of the vote. Little will succeed Greg Hill for council position No. 5. Hill resigned from council in January after announcing his campaign for the County Court at Law No. 1 judgeship. Little faced competition from Jude T.A. Smith for the position, but won in a landslide election. Little secured nearly 65 percent of the vote, according to the Brazoria County Clerk's Office. The Pearland mayoral race and council position No. 7 will move to a June 10 run-off election since no candidate was able to secure a majority of the votes.
