Dozens of federal, state and local primary campaigns will come to a close May 26 as Texas voters cast ballots in the Republican and Democratic runoff elections.

A record number of Texas voters cast ballots in the March 3 primary election, Community Impact reported, although runoff elections have historically been decided by a smaller group of voters. State data from previous election cycles shows that under 5% of registered voters cast ballots in the 2024 primary runoffs, and about 8% voted in the 2022 runoffs.
