The gist

Dripping Springs City Council passed an ordinance to reduce the speed limit from 55 mph to 50 mph on RM 12 south of Goodnight Trails to north of Event Center Drive during a regular meeting July 18.

The details

The Texas Department of Transportation recommended the speed be reduced by 5 mph. This recommendation was determined based on a speed study for the road that TxDOT performed.

In 2020, the city and TxDOT entered a municipal maintenance agreement to maintain the highways within the limits of the city, making the speed study on RM 12 possible.

The bottom line

For approximately 1 mile, the speed limit will be 50 mph. This will stretch just north of Dripping Springs Elementary School and Dripping Springs Ranch Park and Event Center.
